Working at our Garching Site

With approximately 100 employees, GE Aerospace Advanced Technology (GE AAT) is working at its site in Garching near Munich to develop new, innovative engine architectures for a more sustainable and efficient generation of engines. The on-site team consists of highly experienced and highly motivated experts from the fields of turbine and compressor aerodynamics, combustion, thermodynamics, acoustics, icing and hybrid electric propulsion, all of whom are involved in shaping the future of flight with the utmost dedication.

Self-Directed Workforce

The work at the Munich site includes development and research in three revolutionary areas. One research approach is the ultra-efficient propulsion system (RISE) for the successor to the Airbus A320 in the form of an innovative, open fan architecture that enables a significant improvement in propulsion efficiency. Another technological approach deals with hydrogen-burning engines (ZEROe), which aim to completely avoid carbon emissions. In addition, one of our teams is intensively dedicated to research on hybrid-electric aircraft (AMBER), which are intended to serve as the next, revolutionary generation of regional aircraft.
